Long hours on the keyboard? Clenching your fists when you concentrate? You'll be surprised how good your hands will feel when your done with today's stretch:
Sit up straight and tall and relax your shoulders down. Bring your hands in front of you palms up or down, and begin by gently and completely opening your hands. Stretch your fingers and thumbs wide apart from each other slowly, then bring them back together and gently close them into a fist. Repeat 4-5 times, and keep your shoulders relaxed as you repeat.
With your palms up and fingers long, place one hand in the other. Use the thumb of your 'holding' 'hand to massage the palm of the hand being held. Keep the fingers of the massaging hand relaxed, just use the thumb to massage all over your palm. Draw small and large circles, then try short 'dashes' starting from the center and moving out to the edge of your hand. When you're done, bring the tops of your hands pressing together in front of you, palms away from each other.
Then, to finish, release your arms and hands down at your sides, and - your shoulders are still relaxed, right? Gentle wiggle your fingers and thumbs back and forth. Give those well behaved shoulders a squeeze up, then down, and see how your hands feel.
Treat yourself to a glass of water and have a happy Tuesday.
Cheers!
